Teething

Clare's teething is kicking my tail! No fever, but she constantly has her fingers in her mouth. She has been soooooo cranky and I think it is contributing to her being a picky eater this week. I haven't heard of people saying their kid wouldn't eat normally while they were teething, but its all I can figure out. She wants applesauce and black beans and green beans and won't touch anything made of bread. She has been throwing her cheese toast on the floor for days!

Our new walker

I love a baby in overalls! It has been COLD this week and I can barely keep socks on the girls, even if they're feet are like ice they have a great time pulling them off and then I find them all over the house. The other day I couldn't find any socks and I went out to the car and found three pairs!
Since Lucy just got up and started walking two days ago we have been extra busy. I knew I wasn't going to do a full sized tree this year, but I haven't had time until today to get out my mini tree from college. It was very hard for the girls to concentrate on eating their meals today with such sparkly things in front of them on the table.

This is my favorite time of the year. I get really sappy about everything, family time, singing Christmas songs in church, decorations and lights. I know the girls will never remember this year, but it is fun to see their fascination with all the Christmas things, and it is fun to imagine the future and all the memories we will build as a family. Merry Christmas!!

I made bread

Look at my whole wheat bread! I got to feed my babies cheese toast on my homemade bread this morning, they liked it:)

Sweet Moment.....

..... but only a moment. Lucy was so cute this morning, when Clare got upset for a minute Lucy handed her a toy - how sweet! Then Lucy decided that she wanted the toy back, so she took it back.

Lots of new stuff in the last couple weeks. Clare is saying 3 words and signing a few more, and Lucy has said Dada and Bottle. I hope I'm in the top five for one of the girls!

We had so much fun at Granna and Papaw's house, ate a ton of pie and the girls loved having 3-4 people paying attention to them all the time instead of 1-2. I'm not sure which of all of us was more tired by the time we got home Saturday night.
The girls love to smile at Granna!
At our house we put a chair in front of the bathroom door because right now the house is shifted and the door won't latch. This way the girls don't take their baths in the toilet when I turn my back for a few seconds.

Apparently Lucy can still reach the shower curtain through the crack in the door:)

Happy Thanksgiving!

So much to be thankful this year (every year). The girls are over a year old - I never thought that would get here. We are at my parent's house for the week so there are twice as many hands to catch little girls as they go for the remote or try to fish in the toilet. We had an easier drive up here than I expected tanks in part to baby einstein and thanks in part to cheese and apple sauce:) Tomorrow mom and I are going to hit the sales, but probably not until nine or nine thrity so that we miss the craziest people (hopefully?) and the girls will stay with their dad and papaw. Good luck guys! Good luck girls! Mom and Dad's new house is so nice and we can see the lake through the trees out the front windows the girls really like walking up and down the drive way- holding hands because it is so steep. Hope all are having as nice a holiday as we are. Happy Thanksgiving:)

A penless life

Everybody loves a birthday card! Clare carried this one from one end of the house to the other - repeatedly. Seriously this was about twenty minutes of our day when she woke up before Lucy did.
This is actually a perfect picture of Lucy and her card, she just sat and shook hers. :)Ken thought it was hilarious that Lucy had a pony tail on top of her head. I can't get her hair to cooperate any other way.
You may notice that in two out of three pics we are not in the pen. I repeat NOT IN THE PEN. Well I decided that I did not want the girls very first taste of freedom to be at various relatives' households this holiday season so we have been practising. Today I accidentally smashed Clare's finger in a door, other than that we haven't had any major incidents, but I am very very very tired. It never seemed this crazy when I used to babysit, I never realized how many things are just inviting little baby hands to pick them up and put them in their mouths.

Very Long Day

Yesterday was so long I didn't have the energy to blog it! All four of us have colds, I think Ken's is getting better, but yesterday was the worst day for Clare and me. Both girls have runny noses and HATE to have them wiped (of course). By noon I felt like there was snot everywhere in our house. I decided to take them to the doctor because yesterday was the first day that Clare had a cough and I was a little paranoid. I forgot to bring their snack and had to go back ten minutes after I left the house. The last thing I wanted was to have two meltdowns in the doctor's office and be the only adult for crowd control. Of course the doctor couldn't do anything for us because it is just a cold, but i was relieved to know it wasn't an ear infection or something really bad.

During Sesame Street Clare just laid down on the floor and fell asleep. I carried her to bed and ten minutes later I carried Lucy in because she looked like a little baby zombie. Clare didn't even move when we went in the room.

I hope we all feel better before monday because we are planning to go to Granna and Papaw's house for thanksgiving!

First Trip too the Zoo

I LOVE the zoo! When I first found out I was pregnant one my first thoughts was that I could take the baby to the zoo:) so today we packed up the car and drove to Waco to see the animals.... don't the girls look excited?

Okay so they weren't that crazy to be put in the car today, but in their defense they didn't know that they were going someplace so fun.

They really did like the animals, but this is how they looked at the camera I guess one year olds aren't much for posing:)

We got season passes so we will be at the zoo a lot this year- did I mention that I love the zoo?
